Common use
ProAir Respiclick is primarily indicated for the treatment or prevention of bronchospasm in patients with reversible obstructive airway disease, such as asthma. It is also used for the prevention of exercise-induced bronchospasm. It is intended for use as a rescue inhaler during acute episodes and is not meant for daily maintenance control of asthma symptoms.
Dosage and direction
The typical dose for adults and children aged 12 years and older is 2 inhalations every 4 to 6 hours as needed for relief of acute symptoms. For prevention of exercise-induced bronchospasm, 2 inhalations should be taken 15 to 30 minutes before exercise. It is essential to follow the specific dosing instructions provided by your healthcare provider. To use, open the mouthpiece, breathe out fully away from the device, place lips around the mouthpiece, inhale deeply and steadily, hold breath for 10 seconds, and close the device after use. Do not exhale into the inhaler.
Precautions
Inform your healthcare provider if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, seizures, thyroid disorders, diabetes, or low potassium levels. Use with caution in elderly patients or those sensitive to sympathomimetic amines. Paradoxical bronchospasm (wheezing) can occur; discontinue use immediately if this happens and seek medical attention. Avoid getting powder in the eyes.
Contraindications
ProAir Respiclick is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to albuterol or any component of the formulation. It should not be used as the sole treatment for status asthmaticus or other acute episodes where intensive measures are required.
Possible side effect
Common side effects may include headache, dizziness, nervousness, tremor, cough, throat irritation, nausea, vomiting, and palpitations. Less frequently, patients may experience tachycardia, muscle cramps, insomnia, or dry mouth. Serious side effects such as chest pain, irregular heartbeat, or severe paradoxical bronchospasm require immediate medical attention.
Drug interaction
ProAir Respiclick may interact with beta-blockers (e.g., propranolol), which can reduce its effectiveness. Concurrent use with other sympathomimetic agents may increase the risk of cardiovascular effects. Diuretics or steroids can potentiate hypokalemia (low potassium). MAO inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants may enhance the vascular effects of albuterol. Always inform your prescriber of all medications you are taking.
Missed dose
Since ProAir Respiclick is used on an as-needed basis for symptom relief, a missed dose is not applicable. Do not use extra doses to make up for a missed one. If you are using it on a scheduled basis per your doctor’s instructions, use it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for the next dose.
Overdose
Overdose may manifest as angina, hypertension, hypokalemia, seizures, and tachycardia. Other signs include dry mouth, insomnia, and nausea. Seek emergency medical attention immediately. Treatment is supportive and may include cardioselective beta-blockers (with caution in asthma patients).
Storage
Store at room temperature between 68°F and 77°F (20°C and 25°C). Keep in a dry place away from moisture and light. Do not store in the bathroom or near sinks. Keep the mouthpiece clean and dry. Do not puncture or incinerate the container. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

Reviews
Patients frequently report satisfaction with the rapid action and ease of use of ProAir Respiclick, especially appreciating the breath-activated mechanism which eliminates coordination issues associated with traditional inhalers. Some users note the cost can be a concern, though many have found relief through manufacturer coupons, pharmacy discount programs, or insurance coverage. Most emphasize the importance of having it readily available during asthma flare-ups.
